Sunseeker Rallye

It that time of year around here, the Sunseeker Rallye hits Dorset. I took some night shots last night, but I they belong in the bin..

Anyway, instead of sticking with the main crowed by the house, I wandered into the forest to find a good spot for some action photographs, something that showed movement, but wasn't boring.. I found a great corner where the cars threw up gravel!

Pete Christie

Well yesterday I had what I consider to be the biggest shoot of my career to date, I was asked by a local music legend Pete Christie to shoot the photographs for his new album FRANK. I've shot Pete at his gigs, and he really liked my photography over anyone else that has ever taken his photograph. Thank you for choosing me to take your photographs Pete!

Only the one photo for now, the rest will have to wait until the CD has been released. This was just a lighting test shot, but I like the way its turned out.

Before and After

A couple of weeks ago we had the privilege to shoot Jess and Mike on their Blessing. Jess coming from the US wanted a shot of them with some graffiti. Well that was a challenge! the local council had decided that graffiti was a no-no for the town, so what did they do? they covered every evidence of it up! what a nightmare!

So, what did we do? we shot the location like it had the graffiti in it.

and then using Photoshop with a little travel back to the early 90's when I used to do graffiti doodles and some masking I created some Graffiti from scratch..

hey presto, custom graffiti for the bride and groom.

Graphi Studio Album

Back in April last year we took the photographs for Sue and John Chaney. Sue wanted all the photographs we took to go into her album! but I explained that it just wasn't possible and she needed to narrow her choice down. So in the end after a lot of looking she slected 238 photographs to go in the book.
I managed to squeeze all the photographs in to a 50 sided 30x20cm book, 30 sides more than planned, but with so many photographs selected, any less and the album wouldn't have looked as good as it does. On top of the 50 sides, Sue also selected 8 sides that she wanted to be on the metallic stock. 16 13x10cm pocket books were also requested as gifts for the key people who were at the wedding.

Included in the package is a really nice Calendar printed on a textured paper.

Sue and John think that this latest Album is the best they've seen to date. I have to agree with them, I'm very happy with the way this book has turned out. It contains over 600 separate elements that help create its look, all custom made for the album, unlike a lot of photographers who send their photographs into Graphi and get them to make up the pages using templates, all my albums are created from scratch and sent in a PDF format.

Jess and Mike get hitched for a 2nd time! at Tudor Grange Hotel in Bournemouth

Well they were originally married in the USA as Jess is from there, but they wanted to have a blessing over here for all of Mikes friends and family who couldn't make it over.

What a roller coaster of emotions it turned out to be! I started the day by photographing Jess at the hair dressers. But I'm only posting the one image right now I still have to finish off a 3 Gigabyte 95x44 inch Panoramic image from the Concert on Thursday night.

So without delay I give you Jess and Mike, the happy couple.

Thanks for letting Rachel and I capture your special day! It was lots of fun!

Arg Life!

Well the past weeks have been mayhem! Last week Rachel was so ill, I had to take days from work to look after her.. not good times, and then on Sunday night I came down with the same thing she had! so double not good, but I've recovered faster than she has..

Anyway, I managed a meeting with Canford School last week to discuss shooting their Events, and they are very happy with the quality of my work and my first Event is tomorrow at Christchurch Priory! I'll be covering a concert put on by the schools choir and orchestra.

I'll post some images when I get back.. promise..

Things are starting to look up for 2009

Back at the end of Oct '08 I attended the dress rehearsal of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas a production by Richard Batt of Fladermouse Productions. I was invited by one of the actresses who wasn't impressed by the initial photography they had done.

So I went and figured if I got a few sales from it then that would cover my time spent there. It was a great show and I came away with a high rate of keepers due to the great acting and lighting of the show.

Before Christmas I got a few orders from some of the crew, including a 40x20 inch poster from the choreographer Hattie. So taking the photographs she had picked, I produced this poster.

I delivered it to her on Sat, and she is so impressed with it, she wants to order the smaller 20x10 inch poster for her mother.

I have also received a request for another Wedding Album that I produced for a couple I shot back in 2007!

2009 is begining to turn into a pretty decent year..
