Septicemia and Photography

So last night the kids were playing on the PS3 again, Songstar again.. so I figured I did ok on Sat night with the camera, so I'd take some more shots.. 20 minutes of photography and I was done.. so tired and sweating to boot!

I so want this infection to be over with already.. I am itching to get out and shooting again, its driving me crazy not being able to express creativity through the lens.. I have a shoot arranged for this coming Sunday, hopefully I'll be up for it and the weather will hold and be as glorious as its been over the past couple of days.

Maisy pre-party party - Photographs

Well Saturday night I was able to pick up my camera! Still not thinking right though, spent 8 shots shooting in manual focus without realizing it, I'm normally on top of those kind of thing!

My cousin and his family came and spent the weekend down here, unfortunately they can't make Maisy's 6th Birthday on Friday so we had a mini party on Saturday instead..

Lots of fun was had by all, here are just a few photographs from the night..

My Cousin is always up for a laugh! The Birthday Cake had sugar letters scattered around it, we all had a go at making up words, Stef just took it to another level..

Maisy thought she'd have a go at trying to make up words on her forehead too!

Much laughter was had by all when Maisy tried to blow out the candles (they were the re-lighing type). She did eventually manage to get them out!

Septicemia Con't

Ok so, Friday was pretty damn painful through the day and night, I didn't get much rest, an hour here and there, I'd manage to find an angle where my arm wasn't screaming OUCH!! the pain was like a ripping burning sensation..

Saturday was pretty much the same, although late afternoon through to evening I was able to put my arm down on my chest without having to breath through the pain. I also noticed that around my elbow was blowing up like a balloon, at one point I could have drawn an anchor on it and looked like Popeye!!

Sunday was amazing, I could move my arm again and feel the intense pain that followed when I did move it.. Although now I couldn't straighten it and it was pretty much bent the whole time..

Monday pretty much like Sunday, only time I felt pain in my arm now was when trying to straighten it, or when I got out of bed to visit the loo.. Saw my Doctor (which I didn't see on Fri) in the afternoon and his face said it all really.. he was happy that the infection was on the mend, but also said that had he seen me on friday I would have been admitted to Hospital for an I.V.

Tuesday swelling is coming down, more mobility in the whole arm, actually managed to do work! still can't hold a camera..

Today, saw Doc again this morning, he's happy with everything, can visibly see the swelling has gone down in my arm, I'm using both hands to type now (I have the odd twinge in my elbow, and it hurt a lot when he was prodding it). The drugs have affected me more than I thought they would, I have the odd dizzy spell when I'm walking/standing, I have little night vision (usually see more in the dark than most), and tired (though that could be my body fighting the infection).

So there we have it my past 5 days.. Doc gave me a bunch more drugs to take, and I'm back on Monday, hopefully I'll be all better again and able to pick up a camera, I need to get out and take some pictures, its driving me mad not able to do the thing I love most!!

Septicemia - playing doctor, a warning..

So this morning i woke after just 3 hours rest with extreme pain in my left elbow.. About 3 weeks ago I decided that the moisturising cream I was using wasn't working fast enough for my ever worsening dry elbow. So what did i do? yup i took a fresh 10A bladed scalpel and cut the hardened skin off.. i shaved a little too much off if one section, but wasn't too fussed at the time..

Then about a week ago I started feeling under the weather, its that time of year for the new colds etc, so didn't think too much of it.. then a couple of days ago the headache hit.. I get the odd headache now and then and they go, but this one has decided it wanted to stay.. and then my elbow started aching, noot so much that i noticed it all the time.

So the pain in my elbow was so intense I thought I was going to pass out! looking at it in the mirror I could see that a blackend lump had appeared, so thought that it was a pressure build up of blood? so out came another fresh 10A blade, and i tried to releave the pressure.. oh what was I thinking?!! please don't anyone else do this!! not a great move.. so not being able to stand this any more, I made an appointment with my doctor.

She wanted to tell me how fricken stupid I was, but her professional conduct prevented her from saying so.. Apparently had I been living in a lesser country, I would be looking at possible death.. luckily for me I have to take a double dose of antibiotics 4 times a day, and if its gets worse, head for the local A&E for an Intravenous of antibiotics..

So it doesn't look like I'm going to be picking up a camera for a while..

The Wildhearts

Holey Crapola on a stick Batman!! what a night! Thanks to a until recently local musician I got to know while he was still playing gigs in this area (Olly). I was able to attend The Wildhearts gig I thought I was just going to watch, and take photographs of my favourite British Rock Band!

Green Day Tribute, Green Bay at Mr Kyps

Its been well over a year since I last saw Green Bay performing at Mr Kyps, and seeing them again was just as good as when I first saw them. With one difference, they've changed their guitarist.. what a difference its made to their act!

The energy coming off of this bad was crazy, I couldn't stop myself from shooting! Their interaction with the crowed was brilliant as always.

A new addition to last year was the pink bunny, last year it was a chicken, but the pink bunny went down a storm, he even made is way onto the floor during the matinee.

The Skinny Skulls and then Green Bay in one day, what a treat!
