Wedding of Marie and Dave - 1st Oct 2010. Supporting Vikki Poole with her first wedding

Last Friday saw me 2nd shooting and supporting Vikki Poole a keen ameteur photographer that I know from when I shoot The Longest Day gigs. She informed me that she was going to be shooting her first wedding, I asked her how much experience of wedding photography she had and got the answer of "None". Alarm bells rang and I knew that I couldn't let her shoot the wedding by herself, and offered my services. She imediately said "Yes Please!".

So I started the ball rolling by giving her a list of things she should be asking the Bride and Groom about the day. The day was looking good, timings etc. Then the thing that all photographers hate, the weather looked grim for the day. It was going to be a wet wedding!
We went ahead and scouted out the venue for the reception. The wedding was held at Poole Guild Hall (they give you 15 minutes after the ceremony to get shots - so that was out of the question on a wet day).

Looking around the venue - Riveira Hotel in Branksome, it wasn't looking great for a large group shot.. 90+ guests, there was only one place outside where that could happen and the weather was gong to have to give us a break to get that shot (we didn't get that break). So small groups it was.
I then looked around for places to shoot the Bride and Groom, several places looked like good spots. Unfortunately I didn't take into acount that being a wet day, cars would be parked all over the place and we never got the chance to shoot any of the locations because of cars..

The big day arrived, I picked up Vikki and we headed to the brides house, my iPhone satnav worked like a charm and we arrived in good time. Entering the house, it was a typical brides morning, chaos ruled. We got there as the bride Marie was having her hair done and the bridesmaids were doing their makeup, and so the photography started.

An awesome Jag, the driver owns quite a few cars and restored this one over 4 years after finding it in a farm field.




I didn't spot the paparazzi at the back when shooting Marie walking down the isle.







The Registrar said that the responisiblity of the Marriage Certificate was the brides, but she gave it to Dave to look after as Marie didn't have anywhere to put it. Dave thought of a place!


Time and weather was not on our side. Litterally 5 minutes with Marie and Dave before we had to do the group shots.









I don't think Vikki thought there was as much work involved in shooting a wedding as there actualy is..
